Home Alone (Together)
Have a holiday movie night!
It’s Monday…and (we’re going out on a limb here) we wonder if you might have some work to catch up on that you didn’t finish from last week? If that’s true, we suggest plunking your kids down for an oh-so-exciting (and possibly rare!) Monday movie night so you can crank through those TPS reports. Yup, we are advocating for TV babysitting tonight. It’s the holidays and you’re busy making magic all over the place … yet you are still a human that works (or has a home to tend), and you can’t forget about that just because it’s December. So turn on the tube, find a nearby place for you and your laptop (or chores list) and get to it! You’re welcome!
Since this is a weeknight watch, you might be able to sell your kid on watching a vintage holiday favorite from YOUR childhood. Take advantage of the excitement! Check out our roundup of great holiday movies with related activities from our Watch This, Do That series:
Or if you’re really feeling festive we’d love to suggest a two-fer. Watch one of the classics like Elf, Home Alone or The Nightmare Before Christmas. Then bop over to The Movies that Made Us (on Netflix). This show will fill you in on all the behind-the-scenes info on how any one of those movies were made. For example, learn how camera work alone (not editing) made Buddy the Elf look so dang big, by using forced perspective (look it up, it’s crazy cool). Or how at the finish line, Home Alone had its production shut down and almost didn’t get made!
Whatever you choose, make that cocoa, get cozy and push play!
